long weekend

I can't believe my blog is old enough for me to be posting about a second Labor Day weekend. Seriously, where does the time go?

This one included a super fun trip to the state fair on Friday night with Rebecca, Emily, and Matt. There was: a giant slide (AWESOME), tons of newborn baby animals, the squeezing of five adults into a little photo booth for some hilarious pictures, fried everything on a stick, carved butter heads (hey, it's Minnesota), giant buckets of warm chocolate chip cookies, crop art, and lots of great people-watching. Nothing like a Midwestern state fair, ey?

Our weekend also included two barbeques, some football watching, lots of watermelon and corn on the cob, Kevin working on my old road bike (his new favorite hobby), and one HILARIOUS game of charades with the Ceballos' and the McRitchie's. Clare and Mike introduced us to the game "Celebrity," which is a great variation on charades and is seriously fun to play.

We rounded out the weekend on Monday by making a trip out to Saint Cloud (about an hour away) to visit my beloved great-aunt, Sister Jeremy. She is a 90-year-old nun and she is one of my favorite people in the world. She's brilliant, kind, wise, and she positively radiates love and peace. It was so lovely to spend a couple of hours with her and I am making it a definite priority to get out to see her more often.

Enjoy the pictures!

  1. SO FUN!!! What a fun-filled Labor Day weekend. We really need to step it up a bit. The fair sounded like so much fun. Jared and I went to the Wisconsin State Fair a few years ago and it sounds like they are a lot alike (good food, massive amounts of people, cudly animals and lots of rides). Jared teased that next time we need to do as everyone else and pull in a trailer and stay a few days. He would love to give a week of vacation for a week of state fair. NOT!!! (Hey, it was pretty fun but not that fun!) Can't wait to see you guys!!!! YEAH for us!!!!
