new york bound

Whoa. Where does the time go? Yesterday we were celebrating the last day of summer with a barbecue at Matt and Emily's house, and today - today we are officially into autumn! Sheesh.

Between my internship, school (I can't believe it's already the 5th week), social plans, and life in general, I have rather suddenly become a very busy person, sort of breathlessly making my way through the days. Do you ever get that feeling that you're waiting for something to really "begin" and before you know it, you're right in the thick of it and you realize Ah, why it's already started!" That's how I feel about the past month - it's already started and I just now realized it.

We leave for our trip to Ithaca/NYC tomorrow morning, and I'm hurriedly trying to get my act together since I have vowed to Kevin that, for once, I will not be up all night packing (yes, I have on multiple occasions pulled packing all-nighters - procrastination is not for the faint of heart).

As for my internship at METRO, I promise to fill you all in on the details as soon as I can. In the meantime, I leave you with some quotes from one of my favorite episodes of Growing Pains - in which Carol wants to be a journalist (seriously funny stuff, that crazy Carol).

Carol: This is so exciting! The roar of the mighty presses! Ink coursing through my veins. Maybe I've got what it takes. Maybe I don't. But I'll never find out if I don't leap into the darkness and give my all.

Jason (her dad): Carol's paper can't be that bad.
Maggie (her mom): She wrote about guys who dig for clams.
Jason: Well, what's wrong with that?
Maggie: She called it, "I Clam, Therefore I Am."

Maggie: (reading Carol's article) Listen to this - "Night obduces the isthmus 'neath its obsidian mantle. The mollusks imbibe one last sip twixt their valves and expel the day's muculence."
Jason: She could be pushing a little.
Maggie: Jason, read this.
Jason: "With dexterous manipulation of his digits, the master clammer extricates the muculent mollusk from its lapideous ménage."

Mr. Simmons (her teacher/editor): Your writing, it stinks.
Carol: What?
Mr. Simmons: Excuse me, I forgot who I was talking to. It is replete with stinkiosity.

Replete with stinkiosity! Hilarious.

Updates will, hopefully, be coming from Ithaca and NYC. For now, here are some recent pictures for you to enjoy.
